Matrix Opal Rough from Western Queensland, Australia
is dug in the areas of Yowah, Opalton, Koroit and Jundah. Each opal field producing it's own unique definable type. The rough is found as boulders, nodules or
can be an opal replacement of wood. My photographs do not show the fire patterns in this stone very well, It is much nicer in person!
The Opalton matrix rough displays brilliant flashing colors in 3D spider web patterns or the colors may be bright sparkles running through the stone.
Koroit matrix opals are famous for their bright fire colors and contrasting black and red matrix with very interesting patterns.
Cabochons made of this Queensland Matrix Opal can be quite valuable. If you would like to order a larger bulk parcel just email me.
The material sometimes has voids to deal with, a mixture of epoxy and dried cutting mud as a filler before final sanding hides them well.
I have sorted each parcel and promise you will be pleased with any you choose, each lot will cut some fine stones.
